going to get much longer

today we cleaned, and cleaned, and cleaned some more. i took janie to nancy's because i knew that there was a possibility that a couple of people would want to come over and look at our house. you never can really tell what a three year old will act like with new people, and janie's a pretty shy child.

ok. that's pure BS. i just needed a break. and the ability to clean up without her dragging out more stuff to clean up. it's never ending with a child. as soon as i pick up the living room so that it doesn't look like a toddler runs this household, i can go to the laundry room and return to the living room to find everything that i just picked up, pulled out again when she is home.

i went to wal-mart to pick up a few things like bread, uncrustables, and clorox. and of course, i bought bread, uncrustables, clorox, oil, an oil filter, edy's fruit bars, diet pepsi, italian dressing, and chicken breasts.

and that was just the first time i went to wal-mart today. yeah. i said first. no one should actually go to wal-mart more than once a day. i think i have an addiction. and even though i also think that wal-mart is evil, i still go... but that is a whole 'nother entry...

about 10 minutes after i walked through the door at home, the phone rang. it was a man who had come to look at the house a couple of days earlier. he said that he wanted to come over and talk about the house. i told him to come right along.

i looked at chris with panic in my eyes. there is no such thing as selling a house and being totally calm about it. well, maybe if you don't care if you sell or not, but that's not us. if we couldn't sell this house, we couldn't buy our dream house.

yep. that's right. our dream house.

he came over within the next 15 minutes and never even planed on walking in the door. he was ready to give us an offer.

an offer, though, that we had to turn down. i wasn't upset. i was let down. not sad, just disappointed. does that make sense? BUT, i figured, if we still hadn't sold in a couple of weeks, we could always call him and see if the offer was still on the table. so i felt a little better.

then we got another phone call from a couple who lives not too far from us. down the road, actually. we aren't actually friends, per se, but we know each other and speak and wave. you know, the kind of friends that if we needed help on the side of the road, they would be a welcome face to see. although, i guess if we needed help on the side of the road any friendly face would be a welcome one... but i digress....

they wanted to come over around seven o'clock or so to see the house. the husband had already told chris that he liked the house fine and they just needed somewhere to live while they built their house, and they had just sold the house that they are presently living in. so, basically, if his wife looked at the house and liked what she saw, that they would buy it.

so, this afternoon was spent cleaning and cleaning and cleaning some more. even more than we did this morning. i swept, mopped, dusted, folded the never-ending pile of laundry; chris vacuumed, took the rugs out to beat the crap out of them, did some touch up painting on the porch rails (by they way, crayola sidewalk paint will stain painted porch railings... just for future reference...).

when we finally finished, i at lunch and laid down for a short nap. when chris woke me up, it was time to go get janie. i decided that i needed to stop by wal-mart yet again to get a rug for the bathroom and some potpourri. but of course, i left with more than i went for. not too much more, but more, nevertheless. umm...lets see. i got some dove body wash (ultra rich in rosewood and cocoa butter scent), two toothbrushes, the rug and the potpourri. so i didn't do too badly the second time around...

i picked up janie and headed for home. at this point, today had been a very long day. but it was only going to get longer....
