convention and reunion and picnic

there is really too much to cover in just one blog entry, but i have to try....

this started out as a normal day. get up. get dressed. take janie to nancy's. go to work. i had to go to a convention which meant that i had to leave work early that day. i rode with a friend of mine - melanie.

things started out great. we left school around 11:30, which meant we should have gotten to our destination no later than one o'clock. around 12 we were both hungry and decided to stop en route at the pilot station (it has an arby's as well). after her roast beef and my chicken sandwich, it was time to get back on the road.

burr-rrp. burr-rrr-rp. burr-rrr-rrr-rrr-rrrp.

melanie's van wasn't going anywhere. to make a long story short, she called james massey to help. he sent a wrecker with a 2006 chevrolet impala for us to use for our trip while he tried to find out what was wrong with the van.

needless to say, she's still got the impala.

thursday ended on a good note with me and melanie getting to do a little shopping at the mall and eating at el chico's.

ummmm. brownie skillet sundae....

friday was started out better for me than it did poor melanie. she's 5 months pregnant and had to take that horrible gestational diabetes test. she barely passed her first one (the one-hour test) so the doctor made her do the 3 hour test -- just to make sure. she passed it (thank goodness). by the time she was through with her doctor's visit, it was about time to go home. not to mention, that syrupy-orange drink that she had to gulp down wasn't making her feel too great.

we did a little bit more shopping at sam's and old navy and then went to eat at macaroni grill. this is melanie's favorite restaurant. this was my third time going, and probably her 50th. our waiter either was having a very bad day, or didn't really want to wait on two gorgeous women. because it took him ten minutes to take our order, then our appetizer came out after our meal. THEN, he lied to his manager and said that he had told him that we didn't want dessert. he flat out lied. now, you gotta understand. YOU DON'T MESS WITH A PREGNANT LADY'S DINING EXPERIENCE WITHOUT HAVING CONSEQUENCES.

we got home without any mishaps. all in all i was satisfied with the trip. the convention was very nice and i did learn some new things.

family reunion time. we have a family reunion on my mother's side of the family every year. and every year it shrinks. my dad's family only has one about every four years or so, and that seems to suit him just fine.

i gotta say this though, i love the food at a family reunion. the potato salad, homemade cheesecake, fried chicken, homemade rolls, barbeque pork. it's all delicious!

janie had a great time. she swang and ran around with her pop. that's all she needs to be happy. a swing and her pop.

Reunion2006

that night, mom and dad kept janie so that chris and i could go out and see some friends. if you live in the rural south, a weekend is usually made up of a lot of people gathering at one person's house around a fire in the back yard with pick-up trucks pulled close so that the guys can hear the football game (which happened to be the auburn-florida game this time -- WAR DAMN EAGLE!! 27 - 17 baby, YEAH!!)

chris and i got home around midnight or so. chris crashed in the bed as soon as we got home. i couldn't seem to go to sleep. i missed janie. at one point, i almost got in my car and drove to mom and dad's house just so that i could crawl in the bed with her at 2 AM. *sigh* but i decided that if my father heard someone creeping around the house at that hour, i might get shot. or atleast hit in the head with a baseball bat.

i picked janie up around nine that morning and we went to wal-mart. i don't usually take this child into any store unless there is no helping it. but she was in a good mood, and i had a backup pack of yogos in my purse just in case she started throwing a fit. she was a complete angel. i did have to give her the yogos, but heck, that's what they are for. cause i sure as hell ain't eating them.

we went by nancy's house after wal-mart so i could pick up janie's medicine that i had left there on friday by accident. she was getting together a picnic at a local park near the river. after calling and talking to chris, we decided to go too.

we had a GREAT time. janie played and played and played her little heart out. we ended up being there for over 3 hours.

i know it won't happen, but i hope that we can have another great weekend like this very soon!!!
