another damn hurricane

so...the hurricane didnt do that much damage in my neck of the woods. i ended up doleing out $600 on a generator because i remember how horrible it was to go without power after hurricane ivan the terrible (actually, the lights being out didnt bother me....it was the three-digit temperatures that we were melting through) and i didnt want janie to go crazy without having some nemo & dorey time. oh yeah, and did i mention that they were calling this one "dennis the menace"? how quaint.

we were only without power for 22 hours. but heres the kicker. the storm came through around four oclock sunday afternoon. we watched television throughout the WHOLE thing. when the satellite started goofing up, we let janie watch nemo and chris and i sat on the front poarch and watched the rain come down. by six o'clock, it was over. and by seven, we figured we were home-free. the power had not even blinked.

and at eight o'clock the lights went out.

THE FRIGGIN' STORM HAD BEEN OVER FOR ALMOST TWO HOURS!

*sigh*

janie just looked at us and squealed. of course, little kids think it is funny when the power goes out. that is, until they realize that no power = no nemo.

so chris went out back and cranked up the generator.

it was nice to have air conditioning and to be able to watch television.

and like i said, the power was only out for 22 hours, but still.

THE STORM WAS OVER.

chris and i have a conspiracy theory...we think that there were some power-guys that were all excited about this storm coming through because they wanted to make them some over-time. and when the power didn't go out, they just decided to make them some over-time.

sons-a-bitches.
