paid back & baby name
well, well, well...
shane finally paid us back the $$$ we lent him over 5 months ago. the sad thing is that chris had to say something to him before he decided to pay us back.
we lent the money ($1000) to him on may 30th. this was exactly 4 days before we found out we were pregnant. if we had known at the time we were pregnant, we probably wouldn't have loaned him the money. but oh well....
months went by and finally i asked chris if shane had said anything about paying us back. he said that shane had mentioned that he would pay us back at the end of the next construction job he went on. that job ended at the end of august.
and we saw no money.
the next job he went on ended in the middle of october.
and still, we saw no sign of our money.
then one day about 2 weeks ago, shane came over and started talking about his new play station and this new hand gun he bought. i came right out and asked him how much the playstation cost and he said, "oh not much. about $200."
no, my mouth didn't hit the floor. and it was really hard not to ask him how much the gun he bought cost. luckily, chris did.
six hundred and fifty dollars.
well, it doesn't take much to add that up. he had just spent $850 on crap he didn't need.
and the way i looked at it, it was $850 of my money.
granted, we did loan him the money. and he should be able to do anything he wants to with it. but he told us that he needed it to pay bills. which, i am sure he did right after he got the $$$.
and it burned my ass that he was spending money on toys when he owed us that money.
*deep breath*
i'm sorry if this spill of my greediness has tarnished your opinions of me in anyway, but this is really how i have been feeling about this whole situation for a while now...
well, on monday, shane came over to the house and asked chris if he wanted to ride to town to run some errands with him. so chris went with him. they stopped by the body shop to get an estimate on shane's truck (he had just hit a deer a couple of nights before....but i am sure it had nothing to do with his blood-alcohol level...*snicker*). and then shane told chris he wanted to go by the pawn shop to look at another hand gun.
then shane tried to convince chris to buy one himself. to which chris replied, "no man, i've got too many other things going on right now to dish out money for a gun. the baby's due in less than 3 months."
and then chris asked him how much this gun was going to cost shane.
$700.
at which point chris decided to stand up for himself (which with shane is few and far between) and said, "well, man. i said when we loaned you that money that we weren't going to say anything about it, and for you just to pay it back when you could. but if you are going to go buying things like a playstation and guns when we need the money back, well... it's just time for you to pay us back."
i was so proud of chris!
he actually stood up to him!!
so then they went to the bank and shane withdrew the $1000 and handed it to chris.
i asked chris if he seemed mad and he said no. which, he had no reason to be mad in my eyes. nor am i 'grateful' that he finally paid us back. the little snot should have paid us back months ago.
but because he knew he could walk all over chris, he decided not to.
and it took chris having to say something to him for it to happen.
is that a real friend???

janie - after chris's grandmother who passed away this past february.
marie - after my little sister (her middle name is marie).
we finally agreed on a name!! i am so excited!
little janie marie is on her way! only 3 more months until we get to meet her!!!
