finished

returning home yesterday, i found carpet and carpet padding strewn all over the side-lawn. chris is home right now waiting to go to his next job in mississippi. apparently, me telling him that pop and i were going to tear out the carpet in janie's bedroom and put down a pergo floor didn't sit too well with him.

chris has a problem with me asking ANYONE (especially my father) for any type of help FOR ANYTHING. good example: the flood story (if you haven't read it, you should. it's hilarious and ridiculous AND horrible all at the same time). i have known for a very long time that chris doesn't like me asking for help from my family. it stems from his family. chris's mother and father got married when his mother was only 15 and his father only 18. and no. she wasn't pregnant. (that's a whole 'nother story.) when two people in their teens decide to start a life together without high school educations, they are bound to run into difficulties in life. financial struggles seem to be the first that come to mind, but emotional and mental obstacles aren't that odd either.

chris remembers times when they didn't have much money and his grandparents would help out. now, i'm not going into the reasons why they were helping out... because it gets more complicated than it should... but nonetheless, they helped out financially. chris remembers how it made his father feel. as though he couldn't provide well enough for his family. and over the years, this cause more than a slight strain on their relationship.

anyway. my father has NEVER tried to belittle my husband. granted, i am a daddy's little girl to the core, and even if he was trying to do something wrong, i wouldn't see it that way. and i realize that. but i have even talked to my father and let him know the circumstances surrounding chris's feelings. daddy seems to respect that.

i apparently opened a can of worms when i made the statement about ripping up the carpet. but there are two three (apparently i cannot count) aspects of beauty in this whole situation...

  1. i didn't have to rip up the carpet

  2. chris feels good that he did it himself because this is presumably going to help janie's respiratory problems

  3. the floors underneath the carpet they are already finished floors

couldn't ask for much more than that.

here is janie just about a year ago...

p.s. i have pictures of the dresses we have to pick from for janie to wear (as the flower girl) in jami's wedding. there are about 8 or 9 of them and i cannot decide which one i like the best. so... i have decided to post the pictures here and make a poll so you can help me decide which dress we should get for janie. so... flower-girl dress poll coming soon!

xoxo

tell me i'm beautiful...
