polyurethane

lately, chris and i (yes, i said and i) have been working every afternoon after work trying to get the upstairs of our house finished.

so far, out of the 3 rooms that we have been working on, none of them is finished.

and here we are, on the brink of a 3-day-weekend. the kind of weekend where we could really get some stuff knocked out. like finishing the flooring in the master bedroom, or finishing the painting ( OH THE PAINTING!!! ) in the nursery, or even fixing the ceiling in janie's room and putting the ceiling fan back up.

but no.

chris has to work. he'll have tomorrow off, and i will be able to do some painting even if he's not there. but... *sigh*

i really, really wish we could already be talking about moving upstairs... but there is just too much to do to talk about it.

i've got a couple of pieces of furniture i want to paint for janie's room. one is a nightstand that is off-white and it needs to be white to match her room. the other is my daddy's toy box. i don't even want to know how many coats of paint are on that thing. when i was growing up, it was white with a white top and had a rocking horse stenciled on it. then i took it to college and painted it off-white with a green top. i plan on painting the whole thing white (to cover up the green paint on the top) and then to paint this on the top:

at last! a FUN project!

so, here's my weekend list of things leigh needs to get done:
1. paint nightstand and toy box white
2. strip wallpaper in nursery
3. prime nursery walls
4. prime molding for nursery
5. paint nursery walls green
6. paint design on toy box
7. cover design with polyurethane
8. cover design with polyurethane
9. cover design with polyurethane
10. cover design with polyurethane

you think 4 coats will be enough?
