mocha-choco-lattes
i could not have asked for a better saturday.
this morning, i rolled out of bed (janie's bed) at 6 o'clock. we spent friday night at chris's aunt and uncle's house for a pre-reunion thing. they grilled out and the kids got to play. janie had a blast and was zombie-tired when we finally got home at 10:30.
i went to my mom's house because she had decided to make a cake for me to take to the reunion. it's called hawaiian sunset (or something like that) and everyone raved over it. i haven't tasted it yet, but it's made with an orange cake mix, vanilla pudding, coconut, pineapple, cream cheese and whipped cream.
yeah. i know. SO not on my diet.
i iced the cake as we talked and a neighbor showed up at the door. i wish chris and i lived somewhere that neighbors would just show up at the door. *sigh* but that is a whole 'nother entry...
anyway, i went straight home to get janie and chris so that we could go to the reunion. IT WAS WONDERFUL! although, it felt like the temperature was about to reach the triple digits. i am pretty sure it was because of the humidity, though. janie played her little heart out yet again, and crashed as soon as we got home (as did i). but the best thing that happened at the reunion was that chris's sister and i decided to start a water balloon war with a couple of her cousins. the water got everywhere, on almost everyone there, and it felt SO much better. then the kids started filling water guns with ice water out of coolers. now, THAT was cold. but it still felt wonderful.
tonight, we went to the birthday party for susu and richard's son. he's now 18 years old. an adult. ready to go to college. ready to start his life. ready to leave this dinky po-dunk town and move on to bigger and better things.
but i have news for him...
one day, you'll be back. or you'll wish you never left.
