pop gonna fix blue

on monday, i decided that janie and i should go on home early because it's not always good for us to be getting home after nine at night (even if she has had a bath already). we got to the house around six or so. as soon as i pulled into the drive, i realized that blue was nowhere to be found. when i opened the car door, i could hear him whimpering.

he was stuck up under the house. he had tangled his leg in the telephone cable. and judging from how much food and water were left in his bowls (they were still almost full) he had to have been stuck there since early that morning.

his mouth was bleeding, and his back right leg (which was the one that was tied) was swollen much larger than the others.

janie helped me get everything in the house, and i changed clothes so that i could try to see if i could get him loose. and of course, when i realized how he was stuck, i called my dad.

blue ended up being fine. he was hungry and thirsty, but other than that, he was fine. he is fine. janie was such a darling through the whole ordeal. i told her that i was gong to check on blue while pop was on his way to the house. i asked her if she wanted to come too.

"no, i stay here. i stay on porch," her eyes were huge and filled with concern and fright. she was so worried. as soon as i walked into the carport to go check on blue, janie started talking out loud to herself.

"blue stuck. blue stuck under house. pop coming. pop gonna fix it. pop gonna fix blue," all the while waving her arms in the air.

this kid amazes me. she absolutely amazes me.
