mrs. na-na

right now janie is spending the night with nancy (my daycare provider). i have to get up extra early tomorrow and drive 80 miles to go to a workshop on microsoft excel (one of the topics that i teach).

i was fine all day. until about four o'clock, that is. that's when i broke down. as i was driving downtown to go to pick up a cake for an induction ceremony that i had to preside over, hot tears flooded my eyes and i started waleing like a little kid who just had her favorite toy eaten by the family dog.

i called nancy.

"you're not a bad momma," she said. because she knew that is exactly what i was thinking. i mean, what momma can't handle their life (because of work or whatever, for that matter) and has to get someone else to keep their child?

"i know..." i said, sniffling the whole time.

i was probably on the phone with nancy for a whole 2 minutes, but i felt better. nancy is the kind of person who loves children. LOVES CHILDREN. and they love her too. every morning i ask janie if she is ready to go see mrs. na-na, and her reply is always, "yes!"

this woman opens her home to 10 little people every day. but the thing is, she doesn't just open her home to the children. the parents are just as welcome. she is helping shape the lives of these children and their families. she's helping to RAISE these kids. she's the epitome of a warm-hearted, down-to-earth, good person.

there is no better example.

how could i ask for a better daycare provider?

how could i ask for a better FRIEND?

i love you, nancy. you're THA BOMB!!

xoxo
