opportunities
what a hectic time. every one is going in so many different directions that no one has the time to actually enjoy life. we haven't been this busy in... well, we've never been this busy. i have always been able to sit back and just laugh and have a good time. but lately the stress of teaching at the high school, being a mom to janie, being a wife to chris, and being matron of honor in catherine's wedding has just been overwhelming. poor chris can't stop working because as soon as he gets home, he starts working on the house. either painting, or sanding, or roofing, or unpacking... it is always something.
but the only reason that it has been overwhelming for me is that i have allowed it to become that way.
i had begun to look at the different instances in my life as more like problems than opportunities. even if it was an opportunity to learn how to cultivate more patience with janie. it was still an opportunity. yes. that horrible trip to wal-mart was an opportunity to show her who was the adult. but in the end, i think i proved to her that she was infinitely my boss.
i will have to work on that one...
this weekend has been very nice. chris has done just as much work as he usually does, and i have had to grade a slew of papers, but we have had a nice, laid-back weekend. catherine's bridal shower was very nice (except for a few out-of-the-way comments by a few people) and she got a good many nice gifts. i took about 80 pictures and i am planning on putting her a scrapbook together of her engagement photos, the bridal shower, and her bachelorette party (WOO HOO!!). the wedding is set for september 22, but maybe she'll get the scrapbook by Christmas... :)
i have been in a blogging slump for the past month...or even longer. but i hope to get back into my old habits. i miss sitting down and typing lines and lines of text that i can go back and read months or even years later. i want that again. i want this to continue.
and if i want it enough, it will.
only time will tell.
