jami loves air conditioning

today, i played the tourist in auburn. i woke up not feeling so well, so i skipped the workshop meeting. i didn't want to be in the middle of a paper mill in sweltering heat and already not feel well.

so... i walked around the outskirts of campus and took a few pictures.

when jami returned (because she went on the trip to the mills around auburn) she explained how lucky i was that i did not go. not because the trip wasn't interesting, but because of the horrible heat and how that they couldn't hear anything that the tour guide was saying because the plant was SO LOUD and they had to wear earplugs.

now... how were they expected to be able to understand what the dude was saying if they were wearing ear plugs because the plant was so loud? jami said she was yelling out loud to the crowd of teachers that she was with (and, i suppose, to the tour guide) "WHERE IS THE EXIT?" because every where she turned, she couldn't see anything except pipes and huge machines.

that was at the first paper mill they went to. the second place they went was a timber plantation. she said that was pretty interesting, and had no qualms about the trip on that one.

the third place that they went to was another paper mill. jami decided that she was NOT going in that one. she stayed on the charter bus that took them -- in the air conditioning -- and read a magazine.

when the other teachers came out from the mill, they were hot, sweaty, and covered in black dust.

yeah.

black dust.

I DON'T THINK SO.

i am SO glad i didn't go.

to quote jami, "you know how some stOOpid people say they are going to bust hell wide open? well, the next time i hear that, i am going to tell them to go to a dang paper mill because it is hotter than HELL in one of those!"

xoxo
