kitchen table and chairs

today i went back to work. back to the grind. back to school. back to my computer lab. back to a routine.

and i am verily greatful.

in the past week, my life has been nothing less than chaotic (and no, NOTHING like britney spears life) and at first it was fun. the excitement of the new house (which i still love) and the move.

but then the move started to wear me down.

we have so much stuff that is still in the garage. we have so many things that we still want to do to this house. we still have repairs to make. we still have rooms to paint. we still have flooring to put down. we still have to pick the paint and the flooring to put down. we don't even have furniture for most of the rooms of this house. right now, we are living in the downstairs, minus the living room and dining room. so...we moved from a two bedroom, one bath house... into two bedrooms and one bath of the new house.

*L*

how ironic is that? it made sense, though. to move only into the rooms that we need. plus, how do you move into a dining room if you have no dining room table? heck, we don't even have a kitchen table.

right now, i am sitting at my laptop on my parents' collapsable card table. (p.s. we finally moved to an area that is able to get dsl, so no more slow dial-up for me! yipee!!)

we HAD a kitchen table, and chairs too... but we never used them. it became the area where my purse sat for the night, and i would wrap presents on it for birthdays and Christmas. chris and i always ate on the living room floor at our coffeetable (which has since bit the dust) and then, we wanted to set up a desk for the computer and other work-related items and we had no room. so, we got rid of the table. and chris gave it to a friend who needed one for their camp on the river.

after janie came along and got old enough to NOT sit in a highchair (which she still asks for on occasion) she had her own little table and chair to sit at. well...apparently that wasn't exactly HER idea of "eating dinner at the family table" because since we have moved into this house she has sat at the "big table" (as she calls it) at every meal. i even made sure that her little table and chair did not get packed up before we really left the other house because i didn't want to disrupt her schedule any more than necessary.

since we moved into the new house, she has yet to use her chair and table. but i also know (because i have mommy-vision, the kind of esp that allows mommies to just KNOW when doing something will cause a tantrum) that as soon as i move her little table and chair from the corner of the room, she will want them.

so, there they will sit.

probably until we get a REAL kitchen table.

xoxo
