good job

tonight was the last night of vacation bible school at the church that chris's family goes to. janie has been going all week. i planned for her to go tonight. but she didn't want to go.

"momma, i don't wanna go biba cool. i not sing good," were her words to me from the back seat of the car.

"you don't sing good? who told you that?" i was almost upset. who would tell my child that she can't sing well? what little heathen said something like that to MY child?

"i clap!" her face lit up with the words. but she still didn't want to go to bible school.

we went on home, all the while me thinking that she would change her mind and decide that she wanted to go. and, of course, when it was almost over, she decided that she did want to go.

"i'm sorry, darlyn. bible school is over."

her face looked so sad. her eyes filled with tears.... "no more biba cool..."

janie and chris went outside to swing and play, and i went to clean up the kitchen. then i got on the internet and checked my facebook thing. after doing a graffiti picture joke for my sister, i went outside to tell chris about it.

he laughed, but he didn't really laugh, you know?

"janie and i had a talk..." he seemed so serious. had a talk? how do you have an in-depth conversation with a 3-year-old?

"and...." i said with anticipation.

"she said that bible school was gone and Jesus was gone too," he looked down to the ground as he talked...

"oh no..." i responded.

"but i tried to explain to her, that Jesus is always with her. and just because bible school is over, Jesus is with her and he lives in her heart."

"good job, chris. good job."

because, i don't think i could have said it better myself.

xoxo
