a la sulfa

this week has been a week of sickness for mylittle janie and me. we went to the doctor monday afternoon and found out that we both have sinus infections and upper respiratory infections.

goody. goody.

i was waiting to hear that i needed to put janie back on the nebulizer, and i was pleasantly surprised when the doctor made no mention of that horrible machine.

i'm sure if janie remembers it, she would say that the machine is horrible too.

janie is now on a sulpha drug that she completely loathes the taste of. have you ever tried to give 2 teaspoons of medicine to a strong-willed child that would rather spit it out in your face than swallow it?

i have.

it is not fun.

for the past two days i have fought with her over this medicine. i even called the doctor's office to see if they could prescribe something else, something more condensed, something that burned my eyes less when she spit it in my face.

something.

ANYTHING.

but, i was told they could not. LIARS.

somehow, in the midst of being sick myself and haivng to continually battle with janie over this medicine, i had an epiphany.

chocolate pudding.

so here is how to get a toddler to take yucky medicine:

1. take a chocolate pudding cup from the fridge.
2. take a spoonful out of the middle (so you can fit the medicine in)
3. measure the medicine to the specified amount
4. pour the medicine into the pudding cup
5. stir the pudding
6. if needed, add chocolate syrup

voila!

there you have it. pudding-a-la-sulfa.

xoxo
