103.7

my cell phone hardly ever rings. if it does, it play 'toxicity' by system of a down when chris calls. so when it rang and played that random cingular tune, i know something was up.

"leigh?" asked janie's babysitter.

i immediately perked up. "yeah?" she never calls me. NEVER.

"janie just woke up from naptime and she is burning up with fever. can i give her some tylenol ?"

"yeah. i will be there in 20 minutes." -click.

when i got there, mrs. e was sitting on the couch holding janie. janies head was laid ove on her cheast. when she looked upat me, she just smiled and closed her eyes.

now let me tell you. janie NEVER acts like that. my child has been called the poster-child for baby-ritalin before because she is so full of life and headstrong.

i scooped her up into my arms and headed to nana & pops. by the time we got there (about 8 10 minutes later) janie was perking up. that tylenol was apparently kicking in.

we stayed there until around 6:30 or so. she seemed fine. playing. she even started saying a new word. uh oh! everytime she dropped something she would look up at us and say un oh! it was priceless!

after we got home i laid her down in her crib and went to watch some tv. i decided to check on her a little later and she seemed very hot.

so i began my quest to find the ear-thermometer.

about an hour later i found it on the dresser behind the picture of me and chris.

i took it and went into janies bedroom. her light curly brown hair was dripping with sweat. her cheeks were unusually rosey.

103.7

i flipped out. i called mom to let her know i was taking janie to the emergency room and she could meet me there if she wanted.

103.7

it scared me. i scooped up some clothes for her out of a pile of clean laundry and filled one sippy cup with apple juice and another with milk.

103.7

alli could think was that i was STUPID for not being able to remember if it was the ear temperature or the auxillary temperature that you are suppose to add 2 to.

103.7 would be 105.7.

when we got in the car i drove between 90 and 95 miles per hour to the hospital.

two hours later and 1600 miligrams of tylenol later, we were on our way home.

but did our fun filled weekend end there?

no.

saturday went by fine. great, actually. chris got home around seven that morning and he and i played with janie until about 10:30 or so. then we all took a nap. janie and i went to pick up our taxes and then went to CVS to get a prescription filed that the ER doctor had given janie the night before. then we went to nana & pops.

she didnt (and hasnt) run a fever since early saturday morning.

sunday, chris left around noon. soon after that, janie took her 2nd nap of the day (which was odd, considering she usually only takes 1 a day now) and slept until 2:30.

we played in the living room and watched the wiggles and rolie polie olie until around six oclock.

BATH TIME!

thats when i noticed the little red bumps all over her back and chest. and in the time it took for me to actually bathe her, they had spread to her face, scalp and arms.

roseola. fifth disease. chicken pox. measles. rubella.

just pick one. because we have YET to figure out which one she has.

mom stayed off work today to keep her because i don't have that many sick days built up yet. she just called saying that janie's head is itching. *sigh*

i am so tired of her being sick.

so...that was my fun filled weekend. how was yours?

*wink*
